Total Abdominal Hysterectomy

This traditional hysterectomy is usually performed through a “bikini” incision which is made at or below the pubic hair line. Ovaries may or may not be removed at the time of the surgery. A woman is generally able to be discharged from the hospital on the second postoperative day. She is able to return to work after 4 to 6 weeks.
